Home About Me Sculpture Dry Stone Walling Trans Canada Highway Installation
Born in rural Lancashire, England and surrounded by stone in the form of stone houses and dry stone walls brought out what is a fascination with natural stone. I began working with natural stone at the age of 13 years and after leaving school attended a Carving Institute in Rossendale, England under the guidance of a Master Carver. This allowed me to fine tune my sculpting and carving techniques.
I find that I am influenced by many things; European Mythology, Gothic Architecture, Celtic and Norse Designs and the Medieval Period give me the inspiration and ideas to form many of my unique pieces. My unique art pieces can develop from an abstract idea brought on by the shape of the stone or from a more specific concept or design.
I use traditional methods and tools which have evolved very little over the centuries. Carving my pieces entirely out of Natural Stone (the sedimentary rocks of limestone and sandstone) to produce truly hand carved unique pieces of art.
I have exhibited in the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts (BMFA) Juried Art Shows of 2002 and 2004. With a great result of a first place in 2002. A very successful participant in the BMFA Studio Tours and The Intrawest Artist Walk Tours that are held yearly in the Georgian Triangle Area. I regularly exhibit and demonstrate at the Mariposa Folk Festival, held in Orillia, Ontario.
My Studio is open by appointment throughout the year for interested parties by appointment
